Beyonce to Sing National Anthem at Donald Trump Inauguration

President-Elect Donald Trump released a statement that Beyonce Knowles will sing the national anthem at his upcoming  inauguration in January. The New York Times confirms that Donald Trump originally courted Elton John, but John denied Trump’s request.

The 70-year-old president-elect praised Beyonce for her willingness to put country first. Trump is using this gesture as evidence that he can unify the country, which he indicates has particular importance following his divisive campaign against Hillary Clinton. Admittedly, this is a bit of a head scratcher and seems uncharacteristically strange for both Beyonce and Donald Trump. According to Trump though, it’s a sign of good things to come in America. According to Trump, It shows his willingness to take action to unify the country.

“This is going to be huge! @beyonce is putting her country above the rotten politics of our country in deciding to sing the national anthem at my inauguration in January. Her husband Jay Z @jayz you know is a fellow New Yorker.”
